The Montana Single Audit Act was established by the Legislature in 1975 to help ensure that Montana local governments provide transparency and accountability to their taxpayers (Section 2-7-502, MCA). The Act requires that all local governments complete annual financial reports and submit them to the Department of Administration. In addition, local governments meeting the revenue threshold established by the Act must submit annual audit reports to the Department of Administration. When local governments are over 180 days delinquent in filing these reports, the Act requires that the Department publish their names.
The links below will take you to the delinquent reports. If you have any questions about the delinquencies, please contact the local government directly. If you would like to see any of the reports we have on file, please contact the Local Government Services Bureau within the Department of Administration by calling (406) 841-2909.
